The Search for the Perfect Pint

Krakow

Probably not the first place that springs to mind when you want a decent pint? You'd be right as well. This was my choice as I wanted somewhere different to spend my birthday. Even though the beer wasn't great, the place is. There are supposedly a few styles of beer, but they all tasted the same to me. Fizzy lager type crap. The bars are quite strange as well. 99% of them seem to be below ground so if you're claustrophobic or suffer from bad knee joints, I wouldn't bother. The steps down into each bar are hellish to climb down. Never mind, the vodka is excellent.

This place doesn't look that bad from the outside does it? Don't be fooled. Once you get through the doors, it's another descent into the bowels of the earth to find the bar. The windows just about give a view of the outside world, but not much. The beer was okay by Polish standards - a couple of draughts - Tyskie  and Pilsner Urquell. Tyskie is fizzy and flat at the same time. Pilsner I'm afraid is now Interbrew crud and not the decent stuff you get in a lot of bars in Prague.

C.K. Browar - ul. Podwale 6-7,
31-118 Kraków.

I haven't got a photo of this pub, but it was good. The beer was one of the better ones tasted. My favourite was the Dunkel. The beers were C.K. Jasne 11.5º , C.K. Ciemne (Dunkel) 14.5º 7% , CK Ingwer (Ginger) 14.5º , Weizen 12º
and Tyskie. Beer was about 6 Zloty for 0.5l
